Auckland Anniversary Day

This seagull (and many friends and relatives) had the same idea as me, this sunny lunch time. For the first time in a while, the heat was not accompanied by a horrible humidity, making for a good break from work.

Lots of folks were out to enjoy the regatta and other anniversary day featues. Me, I donned my sunhat, coated myself in sunscreen, sipped organic gingerale, and took photographs of birds.

I took a walk along Kariotahi Beach (with my sister), near Waiuku, on Boxing Day. It's a black sand beach, all sparkly in the sun, rather pretty. However, the noise of the waves continuously crashing, and people hooning around on dirt-bikes and so on, is very loud. Just the right combination of sun and sound to bring on a headache.

I'm not really much of a collector, unless you count clothes, paper, books, domain names, and weblogs with little content, and a few postcards. And for this purpose, we won't be counting those things.

 I did, however, take a collection of photos on a walk the other way - pictures of cirlces, basically, that I spied on my way home. One of my favourites is this one to the right. You can see the others in the collection here.
